Imagine traveling billions of years into the past, to a time before Earth, the Sun, or even stars existed. Then, something incredible happens. The universe begins! Over billions of years, galaxies form, stars burst into light, and planets take shape. Eventually, our own Earth becomes a world filled with oceans, mountains, plants, animals, and people. But how did it all happen?
During the past 100 years, scientists have made amazing discoveries about the universe, Earth, and the history of life. At the same time, Bible scholars have gained new insights into the ancient Hebrew words and ideas in Genesis 1, the first chapter of the Bible. These discoveries point to strong connections between the Bible’s description of creation in Genesis 1 and the scientific story of our universe. What if science and the Bible are telling the same story? We invite you to explore the wonderful harmony between Genesis 1 and science.
We acknowledge that for some people, such harmony may not be interesting or useful or the assumptions upon which this harmony is built may not be acceptable. For others, however, who see value in finding harmony between science and the Bible and find the assumptions acceptable, we invite you with open arms to explore these concepts more deeply with us.
Our Vision
It is so exciting to see how science is actually matching up more and more with first chapter of the Bible - Genesis 1. We believe that this growing harmony is a wonderful gift from the Creator of our universe. Our vision is to build a more complete educational program based on this beautiful and growing harmony. This approach embraces the amazing and powerful things science has taught us and then uses that to inspire a whole new generation of students. These students can combine Biblical principles with the power of science to bring more goodness to our troubled world.
Our Approach
Our approach is to bring together some powerful ideas from the world of education and some powerful ideas from the world of faith to create a solid foundation for education. From the education side, we use the approach of "Big History", which zooms way out to look at the entire story of the universe. We also seek to use high-quality, free learning materials to unlock the power of education for the most people. For Biblical insights, we build on archaeology, ancient language scholarship, and the history of the Judeo-Christin faith. By combining powerful ideas from both education and faith, we plan to give students a complete and inspiring picture of God's world and their place in it.
Our Community
This online community is designed to help people understand the harmony between Genesis 1 and science. Understandably, people are often passionate about their beliefs and interpretations of the Bible. By creating an open and safe community, we hope that more people will understand the great gift that our Creator has given to us for the times in which we live. We have forums for extended discussions and will soon add courses that explain the Big Bible concepts more completely. Membership is not free but is inexpensive and tiered. Through this approach, we hope to find members who are serious about learning more about this beautiful harmony.
